1) Revoke Parkway Belt West Plan (PBWP) – The intent of the PBWP was to: 1) provide separation and definition of urban area boundaries, 2) create links between urban areas by providing space for movement of people, goods, energy, and information, 3) provide a land reserve for future linear facilities, and 4) provide a system of open space and rec facilities.

Staff support this proposal. In the event that the PBWP and MZO associated with O. Reg. 473/73 are revoked, Staff intend through the Official Plan Review to update the policies of PBWP lands in Markham, including removal of PBWP-related sections and the PBWP Overlay in schedules, and confirming appropriate new land use designations and Greenway System mapping within those lands.
