Option 3 is the sole option…

Option 3 is the sole option that addresses the huge and overwhelming development burden that is being imposed on the north-east quadrant where I reside. Option 3 is the only option that has a chance of reducing the already extreme impact on the in place infrastructure. Infrastructure must be greatly upgraded to deal with existing issues and will only get worse with the building of more very tall buildings. Option 3 is the only option that will be effective in dealing with the out of control and dangerous traffic and public transit mayhem in this neighbourhood. Option 3 should include parks and/or green spaces. Since moving to my present address 4 years ago, I have seen the quality of life deteriorate significantly for all residents in the neighbourhood. Traffic at many times of the day is at a standstill due to the incessant number of construction vehicles and the LRT build. There have been many instances where just getting a few blocks can take 10 or 15 minutes. The constant coming and going of large construction vehicles have turned small potholes into unnavigable areas on many streets. Posted on the buildings currently under construction are notices advising prospective condo unit buyers that there may not be places for their children in the existing neighbourhood schools. There are no plans for new schools, so how will even more students be accomodated? At times, the construction noise has been terribly unnerving, and the dirt from the actual construction accumulates on my balcony daily. I know that this is one price to pay for development, but more tall buildings will not improve the situation, only make it worse. The Yonge-Eglinton Urban Growth Centre (UCG) has already significantly exceeded Provincial growth targets. I support the Yonge-Eglinton Official Plan Amendment No. 405 (“OPA 405”) as adopted by the City of Toronto. The amendment is consistent with the Growth Plan (2017) and the Provincial Policy Statement (2014).This plan will not only support a liveable community but also ease the stress on our infrastructure and reduce requirements for additional childcare and pupil spaces in the area. The sun and shadow impacts would be significantly reduced on important public open spaces. Development, at any cost, should not be our city's motto. Please heed the call of the north-east quadrant residents and vote for option 3.
