As a resident of the Yonge-Eglinton Secondary plan area. I strongly support OPA 405 and ask that it be approved in its current form. The study was comprehensive, including land-use designations, urban design standards & building height limits, public realm, parks and open spaces, community services & facilities, infrastructure and transportation. And it recognizes that current and future development needs to be coupled with infrastructure capacity; as an example, there is no capacity in local area schools to accept any students from the numerous condo developments under construction in the neighbourhood. (The TDSB has placed a warning sign on every construction site.) Line 1 is overcrowded during rush hour and the current rate of development is expecting to add 7900 new transit riders, not including the new volume from the Eglinton Crosstown LRT. It makes good sense to have development in the area, and the proposal supports measured development in a fashion that will preserve all that makes the neighbourhoods surrounding Yonge & Eglinton a great place to live & raise a family.
