I have been going to Allenwood Beach for over 40 years and the state of the beach over the years is no longer the beautiful freshwater beach that it was. It is full of garbage and it is not being cleaned on a regular basis. I walk the beach and very often I am picking up beer bottles, food remains, vegetation, dead animal debris, and so forth.

Children can no longer build sandcastles, play ball, go for walks on the beach without having to step on garbage. There are little ponds of still water forming due to the lack of sand causing mosquitoes to breed.

The beach has “No Dog Signs” along the perimeter of it. Many times, in the morning, throughout the day and evenings there are dogs on the beach, in the water, and rarely do I see their owners’ poop and scoop. It is disgusting.

The beach is NOT being racked or mechanically groomed.

The beach is being covered by vegetation and there are very few areas to lie on the beach.
The state of the public toilets is disgusting with zero facilities for visitors. On hot summer days the smell of the toilets wafting through the area is unbearable.

What needs to be done to Allenwood Beach immediately in order to bring it back to the beautiful freshwater beach it was:

1. Clean the beach each morning during the spring/summer/autumn months by raking and mechanical grooming.
2. Enforce the No Dog Signs.
3. Remove the vegetation that covers the beach.
4. Bring back appropriate sand to level to the beach. There is swampy water sitting (due to the lack of sand) whereby mosquitoes are breeding and making it very dangerous for all visitors.
5. Remove the old public toilets and bring in a new toilet facility for visitors.

Thank you
