To whom it may concern,
We have Been residents for 31 years. We have seen the high water cycle twice now and are well aware of the changes this brings to the beach, thats Mother Nature at work!
What is not natural is the planting of dune grass ! We are concerned that it has spread too rapidly and not been controlled properly. This creates a habitat for Poison Ivy on the beach like we had in the 40's and 50's. Another problem created is the 6 foot cliffs left by waves undermining the dunes. If kids climb down there they will be out of sight and could drown! Will you be installing guardrails?
A balance is what is necessary to help protect the park environment while maintaining a safe and useable 14 km beachfront.
It is our opinion that this project has not been maintained properly and is out of control!!!
Attached are pictures of the dangerous drop off, root system and beach in front of Shore Lane beachfront homes. Another question, "Why was the dune grass removed from this part of the beach only!"And why is it being so well maintained? There are 6 beachfront properties at the foot of 12th street north that are badly affected by this mess and no longer have use of the beachfront or access to walk the beach to the point safely. Why is this part of the beach different than shore lane?
The Beach and the Sand have been here for hundreds of years without interference. Our hope is that the MNR will step up and correct the mistake they have made! As I said before we need a balance between environment and tourism!
Thanks for your time and consideration
