Multiple studies around the world have linked neonic and other pesticides to the decline in pollinators, which is causing a cascading decline in the bird population. Farmers have to truck in pollinators because pesticides have killed off so many native pollinators, and studies have determined we've lost 2.9 billion birds in North America since 1970.
Rosenberg (a conservation scientist at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and the American Bird Conservancy) has said "even backyard birds that aren't choosy about their habitats can be affected by degradation such as intensifying agriculture, urban sprawl, and fragmentation of forests. They also face other human-caused threats, such as increased pesticide use, domestic cats, and collisions with windows."
Scientific studies have linked pesticides to cancer in humans. Canadian Cancer Society: "Much of the evidence on the health risk of pesticides comes from studies that look at cancer risk in people who use pesticides in their work – for example, farmers, golf course workers and pesticide manufacturers. The research shows that pesticide exposure in general (as well as exposure to specific pesticides) is linked to several types of cancer such as non-Hodgkin lymphoma, multiple myeloma, and prostate, kidney and lung cancers, among others."
Scientific studies are showing a link in pesticide exposure to autism: March 21, 2019 (HealthDay News) "Children who are exposed to common pesticides, either while in the womb or in the first year of life, may be more likely to develop autism, a new study suggests."
Pesticides are in us, our food and our water and they're slowly killing everything. So relaxing legislation for pesticides is just unconsionable!
