As a CBO for many…

As a CBO for many municipalities, I have reviewed your consultation paper and participated in the OBOA AMTS session. As always, every model can be improved, as we move forward and assess the flaws and strengths of any policy, procedure or regulation. To simple leave them "as-is" without updating to current situations or standards would be negligence.

I have also had an opportunity to discuss this consultation with colleagues and local councils and staff (briefly and very upper level) to listen to their views on the topic and all agree change is good as long as it is done constructively.

Further, today I reviewed The OBOA Solution and am in agreement with the scope of the proposed solution. Overall, the OBOA has been working diligently with our profession over the years and offering exceptional learning and training opportunities, conferences and certifications.

The one area where I would like to see more development is in the creation of educational programming which educates and produces qualified building officials.

Building Safety is one thing that is taken for granted and as Building Officials we need to be provided the resources to ensure the life, health and safety of the public is maintained. I believe The OBOA Solution is a strong step towards a sector wide solution.
