A major biological consideration in the planning process should be to provide wildlife passes under the road. If the road is widened that is a further distance for wildlife, especially turtles, to cross. Most turtles in Ontario are species at risk and Grundy Provincial Park is located at the northern range for most of those species at risk turtle. Underground wildlife passes should be a high priority to protect turtles from anticipated increased traffic through the park. Priority placement of these underground passes should be around slow moving rivers, wetlands, and open waterbodies.
