Overall, the plan is thorough and should provide for both short and long term management needs to protect the natural and cultural heritage features of the park.

One concern is that formal trail development is a long-term priority, however closure of unauthorized trails is the first priority. Ontario Parks may have more luck redirecting trail use to the intended locations by developing the formal trail system while closing unauthorized trails. Otherwise, closing unauthorized trails without providing permitted locations may result in additional trails in undesired locations. NCC would appreciate an opportunity to review formal trail plans.

A second concern is the language around invasive species management. It is understandable why the management plan would be written with noncommittal language given invasive species control requires resources that are not always available, however, NCC encourages Ontario Parks to consider committing to a rapid response methodology for seriously problematic invasive species that will definitely impact natural and cultural values if not controlled, and they become more expensive to control if left unchecked.

Finally, NCC is curious to understand what determines the need for a vault toilet? It seems like an unnecessary structure for this park. How often do they require maintenance? Given staff are not very close to this location, can Ontario Parks decide from the start that this structure will not be an option for this Park?
