Dear Sir/Madam,

I have concerns with the proposal for the waste disposal site for the processing and transfer facility at the bottom of Beechgrove Drive near Coronation Drive. I am, a resident who lives on Manse Road and has lived here since I was two years old.

The proposed site is beside a water treatment plant that has been running since 1941. It is very valuable to the citizens of Toronto. If this waste disposal site is located at Beechgrove Drive, there will be 2,500 tonnes of waste per day placed right near the water plant leading to the risk of it being contaminated when water run-off from the rain or when melting snow makes its way to the water plant. The microorganisms contain viruses, bacteria and parasites on the surface of the waste, including food, animal waste, human sewage and other wastes. Should civilians from residential areas become infected, the government will be responsible to clean the area and provide health care. This will have the same results as Walkerton's water crisis.

There are many local businesses and housing located in the area and if Beechgrove Drive becomes a waste disposal site it will most certainly contaminate the lake which would then lead to endangering the public's health, leading no choice but to shut down the lakefront beaches which are a local attraction.

Even if there was not a leakage of waste in the water, the toxic waste will bring the toxins NOx, CH4, CO2, SO2 and TRS (Total Reduced Sulphur). This will then intoxicate the air, endangering the lives of all of the children who attend the Joseph Brant Public School. The school has over 400 students between the ages of 4 to 13 years old. These families might already be in the process of suffering from COVID-19 and this will have an even bigger impact on their health. As proven by the British Medical Bulletin, these toxins will cause reproductive disorders and birth defects as well as cancer. According to the United States studies there are around 26 cases particularly for gastrointestinal, esophageal, stomach, colon and rectal cancer.

By locating the waste disposal site at Beechgrove Drive, we are risking the health and safety of young children of the age of 4 and older who are attending school. Let's learn from our mistakes in Walkerton's water crisis and not create a similar mistake.
