I wanted to state my concerns regarding the Waste Disposal Site proposed for 633 Coronation Drive (019-1444).
The population in this corner of Toronto has increased substantially in the 30 years I have lived here and continues to do so. Because of its location, major transportation routes into this area are few. To get to the proposed site from the closest major transportation corridor (i.e. the 401) trucks will need to travel through residential neighbourhoods close to schools and parks, causing increased congestion and risk to the people who live there. The infra-structure wasn’t built to handle 25 ton trucks arriving on average every 15 minutes 24/7/365, not to mention the noise. There will also be empty trucks returning and trucks associated with the reprocessing of the bio-solid wastes. This increase in traffic, noise, and pollution is not consistent with a growing residential area. Even if the facility is 100% safe and produces no pollution other than noise, I feel that moving bio-waste from various locations in Ontario to a facility deep in a residential area in the largest city in the province seems like a bad choice.
