Municipalities and communities should have authority and be consulted in these processes. The Province should not be making unilateral decisions against city planning and without community input.

This is exactly what is happening right now with the Foundry site in Toronto. The city and community groups have been working for years on a plan for a cultural/community hub with affordable housing that revitalizes the heritage buildings. We are outraged that the Province has begun demolishing these heritage properties during an emergency stay-at-home order with ZERO consultation or notice.

Acts like these, especially ones that go against the Province’s own guidelines on heritage properties, reduce faith in government and look incredibly corrupt. These are back room developer deals with no regard for what the people who actually live in the community need. It is clear that donors to the PCs are being rewarded at the expense of communities. It’s despicable.
