I am concerned that an aggregate operator can request a change in the activities for which they were approved. Does the MNRF not ensure that operators follow the conditions of their license and also ensures that as part of that any aggregate pits are rehabilitated back to the condition they were once in.
My concern is that what was approved to be an interim use of this area is now at risk of becoming something completely different. This land sits on the Oak Ridges Moraine, is it not the MNRF's responsibility to ensure that only activities permitted under the legislation are approved?
I would request that the MNRF give careful consideration to any approvals for an operator who wishes to change the approved use.
