As an Uxbridge resident and a member of the community, I am extremely concerned about the safety of the water. Miller has a history of non compliance, and in my opinion, demonstrate a lack of respect for the rules in place. This lack of respect for the rules at any level, can cause detrimental consequences. In this case, being non compliant can result in unsafe water due to lack of following the rules around clean fill, proper filtration systems and compliance in testing. Miller cannot be trusted to make changes to the site, in which compliance is critical to water safety.
Further, the proposed plan increases dramatically the traffic of trucks. Not only does it bring pollution to the area, but raises safety issues for our residents. We witnessed first hand this past summer an increase in the volume of dump trucks and the impact it has. The 7th Concession specifically is an artery to Durham Forest and has a high volume of cyclists and residents who use our trail systems. A permanent increase in dump truck activity raises the risk of accidents and poses a huge safety risk. The speed the trucks take on our roads is of grave concern.
This site should be left as is. The site should be left for extraction only and be left to be rehabilitated once extraction is complete.
Please say no to the proposed plans.
Thank you.
