I would like to ask that you do not release the land in this Application from the existing license and that you hold Miller Paving to the original rehabilitation plan for which fill is not required.
In addition I have so many questions and comments!
1. Why haven’t you enforced the non-compliance issues on the site? Won’t you be sending a message to other pit owners that they can do whatever they want on their sites and they probably are!
2. Why don’t you bring the site into compliance before even thinking about this application, in fact why didn’t you tell Miller that right off the bat?
3. When is the MNRF going to get more staff? Its a well known fact that there aren’t enough staff to manage the number of pits you are dealing with. Going forward the environment is a big deal and more and more people are waking up and paying attention. You have to do better!
Enough is enough! Make these operators live up to their obligations to rehabilitate the lands they have been lucky enough to have licensed and used for the last 50 years. They should turn them back into useable lands for the people. Its not like they didn’t agree to do this up front.
Thank you for your consideration,
