I would like to register my objection to this site amendment application. I believe it is the MNRF's responsibility to monitor aggregate operations to ensure they are complying with the rules and regulations.
As I understand it, this operator has been cited many times for not being in compliance with the terms of their license. Is it normal for the MNRF not to follow up with these operators? Should they be permitted to just get out of their license in order to avoid complying and/or to set up a different use for a pit? Is it not your responsibility to ensure that this does not happen and while aggregate extraction is important, are you not responsible for ensuring that only operations that are permitted occur on these sites?
This application should not be allowed to go through. The MNRF should be doing its job and getting this pit cleaned up, not allowing the operator to shirk its responsibility to good stewardship of the land.
Please do not allow this to go through -it is your job to stop it.
