I deal with CA's on a regular basis as a part of my job as a professional engineer and I agree that some authorities may on occasion overstep their bounds in some areas and that some regulatory changes and oversight changes could be beneficial. I would however like to voice my concern with some of the proposed changes to the core mandates of CA's that could impact their funding and the services that they provide. In Eastern Ontario we have three excellent CA's including the RVCA, MVCA and RRCA who provide great services to individual property owners as well as to my industry of engineering. They provide excellent information and review services and are never an impediment to proper development. They also manage wonderful conservation areas with trails, beaches, educational information and I believe that these services should remain as a part of their mandatory services.
