I DO NOT support this Bill. As citizens of the globe, Canada and Ontario action on climate change is a MUST. Ontario's Cap and Trade program was far from enough and now it is a risk.
Unless additional legislation is passed to prohibit corporations from passing on any form of carbon pricing cost onto the consumer, consumer will be paying a 'tax'
Does the PC government really think it can prevent carbon pricing from being passed onto the consumer?
Does the PC government really think it can simply encourage corporations to produce less carbon?
Are the members of the PC government some how 'super people' who can get behaviour change out of human beings without imposing a meaningful consequence like money?
Just how does this government intend to get significant and prompt action required to mitigate the effects of climate change?
Bill 4 is so, so irresponsible. Why? why start from the beginning again? Build on the cap and trade program. Comply with the federal government in imposing a price on carbon. Financial consequences are an extremely effective method of affecting behaviour change and behaviour change is what is needed from individuals to mega corporations if there is any hope at all in having a planet to leave to the generations to come.
Keep the cap and trade program and make it a even stronger vehicle to tackle climate change.
