It does not make sense to me that such an effective program, which impacts millions of light-duty vehicles and hundreds of thousands of heavy-duty vehicles, would be cut back so drastically for the light-duty vehicles. Drive Clean also contributes to driver's knowledge and understanding of the impacts of driving on the environment. Relying on industry standards being improved over the years does nothing except externalize the government's responsibility and expenses. I do not support this proposal to re-design the Drive Clean Emission Testing program.
