I find it troubling that the Government of Ontario decides to open up protected, environmentally sensitive land for development when the Report of the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force, issue February 8, 2022 states that a significant amount of land in Toronto and potentially other municipalities are zoned for single home dwellings reducing the amount of homes available to be built.
Modifying these zonings restrictions from single home to multi home would add more density and increase the housing supply without increasing urban sprawl.
Perhaps the government should listen to the results of this report and increase supply in areas that are already in an urban environment rather than listening to developers/donors whose sole interest in making profit.
