I hate this plan, please don't do this. Leave the greenbelt as protected land. Looking into the future as environmental change means not only hotter urban temperatures and the loss of precious ecological habitat, but also rising flood risks as impervious surfaces concentrate flood waters in vulnerable areas rather than disperse them the way natural surfaces like forests, parks or farmlands tend to do.

Another thing to consider is the importance of habitat connectivity. Water flows and animals migrate. Experts say you can’t just draw a line around a piece of land, say it’s protected and assume it will all work out — how that land is connected to what’s around it will also define how successful conservation efforts there might be. That’s why land on the edges of the Greenbelt is just as important as what’s at the centre

Conservatives hate inflation and rising food prices, but somehow love cutting out the green belt which is made up of farms at 40% of total area. And how does someone publicly declare the greenbelt is untouchable and then secretly be recorded telling developers he will open the greenbelt up for them?
