The Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing should consult and work with the Toronto Region Conservation Authority to independently assess the impact of the proposed change prior to enacting any changes to the existing Greenbelt Plan.
The irreplaceable value of the Greenbelt is well-established, for the vital ecosystem services it provides through the nature, water, and farmland it protects.
I do not support changes to reduce the size of the Greenbelt. The Ministry should work with the TRCA and municipalities to leverage independent scientific advice to inform their review of Greenbelt sites being considered for removal within TRCA’s watersheds.
