I believe this is an awful idea. In a time where housing affordability is nil, and inflation is high, you want to open up the Greenbelt to builders who only have one goal in mind ----- PROFITS. The housing crisis is not the result of lacking land to build on, it's the fact that house prices are through the roof. I bought my first brand new, custom-built home in 2006 for $200,000. How is it that the same house is now worth $700,000? I'll tell you why - homes that are way too big are being built, meaning they're worth more than a smaller home - simple economics. However, that large home is now bringing up the prices of all the homes around it, including the little ones, that aren't worth anywhere near as much, but due to the "market conditions" becomes worth more - therefore, excluding a whole generation of people from being able to purchase a home.

You also want to take away building and development fees - these fees are incredibly important for local municipalities. Why would you do this? Who's going to pay the difference? The taxpayers - me, my husband, my parents, etc., amidst soaring inflation. Again, why would you do this??

Please reconsider. There are people going homeless everyday because of poor social and economic policies. We need strength and support from our leaders, not bigotry and greed.
