Dear Minister,
This proposal to open parts of the greenbelt is folly! We MUST protect our green belt to ensure we protect our wetlands, existing homes from flooding, and the wildlife (and protected wildlife) that inhabit these sensitive areas. I agree that we need additional housing but destroying protected areas is not the way forward.

I do not believe for one minute that if these homes are built they will in any way be "affordable". They will be single family homes on premium lots and only for the very well-off. There will be no transit close by, not I expect will they be "walkable neighbourhoods" so occupants will need multiple vehicles to get around. Madness!!!

Suggest you build smaller buildings of 6 to 8 stories on main streets in the cities so people are close to transit and shopping. There are many Shopper's Drug Marts that could have affordable housing built on top of the existing store. The Beer store has done that in my corner of east Toronto and it looks lovely and does not block the sun .

Premiere Ford was caught telling developers that he would open the Greenbelt for development before he was first elected in 2018. He walked back that statement by saying "The people have spoken. I'm going to listen to them, they don't want me to touch the Greenbelt, we won't touch the Greenbelt.". He needs to keep his promise to the people of Ontario. It's not just "farmers fields"!
