I am very concerned about how Bill 23 is being approved with out a Democratic process. This Bill needs further consultation from all major players including our conservation authorities, local municipalities and other concerned groups, other than Developers. Green areas should not be developed for housing but preserved for recreation and lowering our carbon foot print. The reason given by our current government of “more housing is needed,” doesn’t justifying this Bill. Current municipalities have planning procedures in place and most have already allocated development areas for their housing needs. One problem we do have is lack of affordable units ,but this current Bill doesn’t not address this issue. It’s designed only for developers to make more profit.
Our green space is very important for the future of Ontario and it needs to be preserved in away that we can have future trails like the Bruce trail and other recreational areas.
Please do not pass this current Bill without further revisions to protect our future.
