As a voting resident of Ontario and an employee at an organization working towards sustainable food systems in Canada, I am deeply opposed to the proposed amendments to the Greenbelt. Bill 23 strips conservation authorities of power; threatens wetlands, other natural ecosystems and the farmland that feeds Ontario; and represents an appalling failure of Doug Ford to live up to his promises. It also, according to a 2022 report from the Ontario Housing Affordability Task Force, is not the answer to the province's housing issues. The changes here benefit only developers. I ask that these amendments be abandoned and Bill 23 repealed.
