I am opposed to the amendments to the Greenbelt plan. This plan was carefully thought out to preserve natural space for generations to come. Development on the Greenbelt will result in permanent damage to the land and soil. I am also deeply concerned about taking away public consultation and say from regional governments. This is undemocratic. I am also wondering how developers knew to buy the land just a few years/months before the Ford government decided to open it up. It just doesn’t add up. I am for creating more affordable housing within existing urban boundaries so we can protect natural spaces and species at risk while at the same time building healthy, livable communities. I am also wondering if Indigenous leaders have been consulted.
