Please approve Waterloo Region's Official Plan Amendment 6 ("ROPA 6") as submitted.

The ROPA 6 Amendment will:
Support preservation of land for agriculture and maintenance of forests and wetlands by limiting the urban boundary expansions. This is an effort which is supported by the Six Nations of the Grand River Elected Council. Much of the Region of Waterloo is contained within the Haldimand Tract lands and therefore consideration and respect for the input of local First Nations on the plans for these lands is an important part of reconciliation.

Protect our natural habitats. The United Nations Biodiversity Summit held in Montreal in December resulted in commitments to increase conservation efforts to protect 30% of lands and waters by 2030. ROPA 6 supports these efforts by encouraging new development within existing built-up areas including major transit station areas and designated greenfield areas.
