I'd like to see what sort of enforcement or inspection process will be included with this.
It says there will be no additional cost to implement these changes, and I like the idea that the stay-times will be shortened significantly, However, if you go to just about any campground, you see litter, people pouring greywater/dishwater wherever they feel like it - and frankly, there are a lot of people who don't bother walking to the outhouse for a pee. And these are places with facilities and people STILL do these things. Encouraging water-camping means all of this is going into our lakes, more than it already is. Get a strong wind - there goes all your paper plates into the water.
Will these vessels be inspected for proper and functioning equipment to deal with bathroom waste? I sincerely doubt that they'll be heading ashore every time someone needs to relieve themselves. Further to that, what will the penalties be for endangering the environment when spills of fuel, oil, waste water, garbage, etc etc happen into the lake? Who will clean it up AND pay for the clean up? Nevermind the disaster that will become of the lake ecosystem itself.
Asking water-campers to move at least 100m away is peanuts. And 7 days of having a water-camper parked out a persons waterfront view? How about unwelcomed, uninvited on-shore visits to private property and beaches? Honestly, what is happening?
Our lakes are small and gorgeous - these sorts of vessels will ruin the aesthetic of why Muskoka is so beautiful.
