Ontario is home to Canada's largest population and industrial sector.

These two points mean the government can do a lot to incentivize more energy friendly ways both groups exist.

There is little need for so many Ontarians to commute to work. The costs are staggering, and COVID proved that many of these people can do their jobs remotely. Yet instead of the government supporting a transition to telecommuting (by wauly of financial incentives) it's done nothing, or worse been complicit in pushing back to office work ideas. Supporting work from.home business initiatives would not only save many tons of carbon emissions, improve air quality (and health), it would help people find jobs in non-large city centers. It would also likely help Ontarians see more reason to upgrade their homes.

This leads me into another comment, Ontarians have little incentive to move to energy efficient ways to heat/cool their homes and upgrade to energy generation systems (like solar). There are few rebates available, and gas options are always cheapest. The government needs to do more to help people move to EVs and home-based energy generation (by way of rebates).

In addition, funding for technology such as Alberta's Eavor and test sites in Ontario should be prioritized. Ontario should be pushing to fund startups that push the envelope in terms of what sustainable energy looks like. This would not only help find the projects that work, it would generate jobs, and push Ontario into an atmosphere of innovation.
