There is a creek that runs through the golf course and that is the water course they will be taking water from--not the Pefferlaw River. The creek flows into the Pefferlaw River and phosphorus levels are already a problem. I believe the amount of water they are asking for is excessive and should not be allowed without regular testing of the creek to identify any negative impacts. The 10 year permit is also excessive without regular testing and conditions that require the golf course to mitigate any negative impacts to the environment and creek. As golf courses are allowed to use weed spray and fertilizers, this small creek should definitely be monitored. It would be preferable to find an alternative option to irrigate the course. What have they been doing over the past 50 years and why do they need this permit to take water now?
