This is a no brainer. Yes these lands should be put back into the Greenbelt. As per the Auditor General's report and Integrity Commissioner's report the process to remove this property was flawed and probably illegal. This move will correct many wrongs.
Returning these lands provide many greenhouse gas benefits as agriculture or natural areas. Returning these lands provide improve wildlife corridor for wildlife movement/migration. Returning these lands provides protection for species at risk, agricultural uses and watershed protection. It's important that these lands be protected. The same can be said about the other 14 sites removed from the Greenbelt without proper consideration to their intrinsic value beyond housing.
I think it important that no funds be transferred to the owner during the process of reincorporating these lands.
Lastly, the Province should put the remaining 14 sites back into the Greenbelt (at no cost to taxpayers) and shift course to using the already designated white areas for housing.
