Has anyone considered the impact to our waterway system and how garbage, hazardous waste runs in the land to Mollys Creek, to Sydenham River, to Lake St. Clair which runs to Walpole Island? Has the Chief been notified? Has the environmental engineer of Walpole Heritage Center been notified that endangered species are at risk with this project. Has a meeting been scheduled to inform the people of Walpole Island this proposal is in the works? What is their feedback. I know you haven’t informed them because when I asked questions NOONE on the reserve is aware! This flows to the Detroit River, have the Keepers of Water on the USA side and Canadian side been notified and what is the feedback? I’m trying to notify them and have emailed them to inform. How much thought has been put into the project regarding the sustainability of safe drinking water for generations to follow us. I have built my home in Dresden and we settled here for the calm nature of the town where people farm, work hard and make a great living to feed families. You are only thinking of today because this puts money on the right side of your balance sheet while you retain office. How would you feel if a dump was in your back yard after working hard for 30 years with a dream of retirement in a kind loving community where everyone knows you, says hi and prays for the families at church. God will take care of all people making these decision for money and not the right reasons. Just because it was once zoned a dump doesn’t mean it should stay that zoning and you expand on it because you have difficulty “finding a place”. Have you searched for Indiginous remains from when this was once a reserve? How will this impact the project? The secrecy behind this entire proposal is disgusting. I trust in God that He puts the right leaders in the right place at the right time and I am writing this comment for a reason. I ask we decline the proposal for recycle facility and expansion of so. I ask that you inform the necessary Indigenous people, obtain research on how this will impact our local land as well as the waterways that we drink out of, swim in, catch fish and eat from to help preserve our health. I also ask you to move to Dresden for the rest of your life if you feel this is such a great proposal for the community, right beside to smell the garbage everyday. The 401 landfill is horrific with smell for miles and miles. Do you really think it’s okay to say “only Dresden garbage will be put in the landfill”? Do you hear how dumb that sounds? Of course this doesn’t consider our roads that are already not maintained and impact of tax dollars for upgrades as needed. Paying the families of Dresden and buying up properties at high dollar amounts just verifies your intentions for further expansion without completing the necessary environmental studies on the agricultural zoned adjacent land as well. Please do not proceed with this project.
