The ministry of environment NEEDS to stop the proposed landfill/recycling operation. There are so many reasons why.
There are many endangered species and wildlife that live along and in Molly's Creek and the Sydenham River. This landfill will destroy all of these. It said in proposal ERO#019-7917/ Ministry reference# 1806-CWAR5Q that on site ditches and stormwater management ponds will discharge into Molly's Creek which drains into the Sydenham River. How is this environmentally safe. It's not. It will destroy everything. Even plant life on the banks.
Why would you allow a dormant landfill of over 40 years to be reopened. It was never used as a "dump". It was used to bury the ash from an incinerator that was in Dresden many, many years ago. Why disturbed this land after all these years. There is fly ash buried at this site. Digging up this fly ash is very dangerous. It will become air borne. We the people of Dresden are the ones that will be breathing this in and causing illness. We are the ones that will be breathing in the asbestos. We are the ones that will be breathing in all the fumes from the trucks that will be driving through our town. We are the ones that will be breathing in the silica dust from old bricks and cement that this company will be grinding up. This landfill/recycling operation is a VERY bad idea. It is to close to our town. Many generations of families live here. Grandparents, parents, children, great grandchildren. ALL of our health will be affected.
For the people on water wells. Our wells will become infected. At the info meeting held March1,2024 at the arena one gentleman said the aquifer is at 60ft and they would not be disturbing it so our wells will be safe. I disagreed with him saying this. I have 3 wells on my property and have all the certificates for when these wells were dug. I have 2 that are at 30ft and one at 28ft. So how is this not going to affect my water along with everyone's else water wells. They are going to wreck the aquifer. We will not have safe water. I would be more than happy to show the ministry these certificates to prove that the aquifer is NOT at 60ft as they are stating.
This is an area that is known for flooding in the spring and also after heavy rainfall. These "so-called" storm management ponds will also flood and drain onto the surrounding lands. Again destroying the crops and plant life.
This proposed landfill/recycling operation needs to be stopped. It is not environmentally safe and never will be.
Proposal ERO#019-8313/Ministry Reference #8126-CYMRCN states that the "wastes" will come form the town of Dresden within the municipality of Chatham-Kent. This is wrong information that this company has in this proposal. This waste is NOT coming from the town of Dresden or the municipality of Chatham-Kent. It will be coming from all over Ontario especially from the Toronto area.
This company has done nothing but been deceitful and lied to the people of Dresden and surrounding area. They are planning to make this site the biggest in Ontario. We have been told, no trash, but eventually this is their plan. They DO NOT care about the people of this area. Our town. Our livelihoods. Our health. Our mental health. Our water. Our air that we breath. Our water we drink. Our children. Our parents. Our grandparents. Our great grandparents. They care nothing of these.
