As a home owner in Dresden, I am fully against this proposal! With the instalment of a dump, even if it is of construction materials (for now), the increase in traffic alone is a major concern. It’s already unsafe for my children to cross 21 highway to go to their elementary school, and that’s just with the normal traffic volume. We are lucky to have a small tomato factory in our town which employees many people, but as such, the tractor and trailer volume always increases from August to October with it. Let’s not increase this any further with the extra hauling of these trucks or transports!

With this dump, our property values will all see a drop as no one will want to live in a town that has a dump 1 km away from it. And no one will ever be able to sell their house for a reasonable value!

Smells or any contaminants from the dump will easily make their way into Dresden. The exhaust from the increase in truck traffic will also be present.

The increase in noise also possesses a major concern when this dump is running all hours of the day, 7 days a week. We live very close to the main road that leads through town so any traffic from these trucks will be heard from the comforts of our home.

The health effects of the construction waste is also concerning. The products being recycled could cause health risks in the future. There hasn’t been enough research for the company to begin operating.

Chatham-Kent is a huge supplier of high yielding crops. The land already purchased is a waste to use just for a dump, and that doesn’t include any extra expansion that may be seen in the future. Protect the rich farm lands we have!

And what guarantee is there that this instalment of a dump for construction waste won’t someday be expanded to include garbage waste? And with the creek running directly through the dump and into the Sydenham River, our ecosystem is going to be contaminated by any run off they produce, killing off already endangered species.

We live in a beautiful, quiet, small town. Don’t ruin our little sanctuary of a town by letting a big company in to destroy it!
