Gowest Gold Ltd. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for Environmental Compliance Approval (Air) No. 6592-BDALNP for Gowest Gold Ltd., a gold-bearing underground mining facility, located in the Township of Tully, Ontario.

The emission sources from the mining related processes that discharge to the air include generators, jaw crushers, cone crushers, screeners, and the emissions from mine ventilation and stockpiles. The amendment includes the installation of six natural gas fueled generators (4 operating simultaneously at 80% capacity), addition of a sorting building, a new vent raise, and an increased daily production and extraction rate. Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• carbon monoxide,
• sulphur dioxide,
• nitrogen oxides,
• total suspended particulate,
• silica, and
• metals such as aluminum, iron, and potassium.

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (Air). The limited operational flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
