Détails de la décision
The ministry has issued a new Environmental Compliance Approval for industrial sewage works to RAM Iron & Metal Inc. for the company's Welland Metal Recycling Yard, located at 111 Ridge Road, Welland, Ontario.
The site stormwater management system is proposed to detain and treat stormwater from the site prior to discharge to the roadside ditch along Ridge Road, then the downstream receiver, Lyons Creek and ultimately to the Welland Canal.
The proposed site drainage strategy will include a treatment train design with conveyance via vegetated swales or storm sewers, a series of check/filter berms, two underground storage tanks and an oil/grit separator. The stormwater will be treated prior to being discharged off-Site.
The ministry has imposed an effluent monitoring program as well as conditions requiring the client to report any findings to the ministry along with a recommendation for an enhanced treatment option for metals, if required, should the site not meet the imposed effluent criteria.
