Maple Leaf Marinas Holdings GP Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage) for the existing sewage works servicing Bluewater Lodge and Marina located at 50 Blue Water Road, in Honey Harbour, Township of Georgian Bay, Ontario.

The site is a seasonal cottage rental facility and marina, including 9 cottages and 11 trailer sites. The facility is serviced by three private sewage disposal systems, which include septic tanks and fully raised leaching beds. The septic systems were constructed between about 1978 and 1983/84. Each of the sewage system services three cottage units, while one of the sewage systems also services the 11 trailer sites. Each of the sewage systems consists of a septic tank and leaching bed. The sewage works were originally approved through Use Permits issued by the Ministry of the Environment (currently Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks).

The operator is proposing to replace the three sewage systems (which each provide septic tank and leaching bed, or primary treatment) with one tertiary treatment system by Aquarobics Canada, operating with a total daily flow of 18,225 litres per day.
