A decision was made on May 15, 2026 to approve the new official plan for the Municipality of Magnetawan, adopted by municipal council on November 15, 2023, by By-Law № 2023-58, with thirty eight (38) modifications. Notice of this decision was given to the municipality on May 15, 2026.

On November 15, 2023, the Municipality of Magnetawan adopted a new official plan by by-law 2023-58. The official plan is now before the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision under the Planning Act.
The new official plan, if approved, will replace the existing plan, which came into effect in 2013. The new plan will guide growth and physical (land use) change across the Municipality of Magnetawan, while incorporating provincial objectives and community-driven priorities.
The ministry will review the matter for consistency with the Provincial Planning Statement, 2024, conformity with the Growth Plan for Northern Ontario, 2011, and compliance with the Planning Act. All feedback received will be considered before presenting any potential modifications to the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing for a decision in accordance with section 17 of the Planning Act.
As set out in subsections 17(36.5) and (38.1) of the Planning Act, the decision of the Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing regarding an official plan adopted in accordance with section 26 is final and not subject to appeal.
