International Buddhist Progress Society of Ottawa Carleton - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

This proposal is for a new Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage works) for the International Buddhist Progress Society of Ottawa Carleton for their new Fo Guang Shan Temple of Ottawa located at 6688 Franktown Road, Ottawa, Ontario.

The subject property has an overall area of approximately 39.87 hectares with existing temple buildings and accompanying rural services. The proposed works will see new temple buildings being added within a 3.25 hectares development area abutting Franktown Road, near the Town of Richmond, Ontario in the Greater City of Ottawa.

This application is to establish additional sewage works for the collection, treatment and disposal of up to 3,650.00 cubic metres of sewage flows per year to service a maximum number of 1,000 attendees at this place of worship. The proposed sewage works will include addition of new sanitary sewers and a new balancing tank which will be connected to the existing Waterloo Biofilter Level IV Treatment Units. The existing sewage treatment units discharge via existing forcemain into the existing Type A Dispersion bed. All existing sewage infrastructure will remain as-is as part of the proposed work.
