Magellan Aerospace Limited - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for an amendment to the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 0096-9JLJ5C for Magellan Aerospace Limited, manufacturing light alloy castings primarily for the international aerospace industry located in the City of Haley, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include mould and core making, furnace charging and melting of magnesium and aluminum, pouring of molten metal into moulds, shakeout and cleaning castings, and product finishing.

The amendment includes addition of welding booth, dust collector and air handling units . Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• benzene
• benzo(a)pyrene
• nickel
• quartz
• iron, and
• nitrogen oxides

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
