Novelis Inc. - Environmental Compliance Approval (air)

This proposal is for the renewal of the Limited Operational Flexibility for an Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. 9988-9LKK2T for Novelis Inc., an aluminum coil manufacturing facility which processes aluminum coils, consisting of the following processes and support units located in the City of Kingston, Ontario.

The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include cold rolling, annealing and heat treatment, cooling, roll grinding, and finishing.

Emissions to the air from this facility include:

• nitrogen oxides
• particulate matter
• methyl laurate
• naphtha (petroleum)
• hydrotreated heavy
• ferric sulphate, and
• 1-Tetradecanol

The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
