The site is located approximately 6 kilometers southeast of Eganville. Fourth Chute Road abuts the site on the north and east. Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) License # 623601 is on the west boundary of the site.

Description of instrument

R.J. Selle and Son Sand and Gravel Ltd. has applied for a Class A, Category 4 (quarry above water) licence. The area to be licenced is 6.0 hectares. This application is for an expansion to an established quarry which, if approved, will be amalgamated with the application and operated as one site. The tonnage condition applied for requests a maximum of 200,000 tonnes of aggregate to be removed from the site in any calendar year. Technical reports submitted in support of the application include: Natural Environment Level 1, Stage 2 Property Survey (cultural heritage resources) and Groundwater Level Determination.

Other information

R.J. Selle and Son Sand and Gravel Ltd. currently operates an adjacent site under the authority of Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) Licence # 623601. 8.2 hectares are licenced as a quarry with a tonnage condition permitting a maximum of 200,000 tonnes of aggregate to be removed from the site in any calendar year. If the new licence application is approved it will be amalgamated with the existing licence and operated in accordance with the site plan submitted with the new application.

The public may view site plan information for this site at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) Pembroke District Office, 31 Riverside Drive, Pembroke, Ontario K8A 8R6. Making an appointment to view the information is recommended to ensure aggregate staff will be available to provide information and answer questions.

Comments received through the Environmental Registry should not be construed as an objection under the Aggregate Resources Act (ARA) in accordance with section 4.0-Notification and Consultation Standards of the Provincial Standards 1.0 under the ARA. To be considered as a formal objector, individuals need to contact the MNRF contact specified on this notice to determine how to submit an objection.

Other public consultation opportunities

As specified in the ARA, written notice of the application was delivered to landowners within 120 metres of the proposed licenced boundary; an information sign giving notice to the public of the application was erected at the proposed site and a Notice of Application appeared in the Eganville Leader on April 20, 2016. A public information session was held on May 13, 2016.

The application for this proposal is being circulated within the MNRF Pembroke District office. Additionally, notification of this application has been forwarded to the Township of Bonnechere Valley, and the County of Renfrew for comment.
