Parrish & Heimbecker, Limited operating as New-Life Mills - Environmental Compliance Approval (sewage)

The proposal is to amend Environmental Compliance Approval No. 8330-8ZNPVP for industrial sewage treatment works and stormwater management works serving the New-Life Mills feed mill located in Inkerman, Ontario.

The industrial sewage treatment works comprise of iron media filters, ultraviolet disinfection equipment, ion exchange water softeners, reverse osmosis equipment, effluent monitoring equipment and associated appurtenances, and are designed to meet the existing Effluent Quality criteria in Environmental Compliance Approval No. 8330-8ZNPVP prior to discharge to the North Branch of the South Nation River. The proposal includes an increased discharge capacity of up to 20 cubic metres per day of final effluent from the industrial sewage works to the North Branch of the South Nation River.

The stormwater management works collect, transmit and discharge non-contact stormwater runoff from the site to the North Branch of the South Nation River, through the same discharge outfall as the industrial sewage works. There are no proposed changes to the stormwater management works.

The Ministry may require monitoring of the industrial wastewater effluent discharge leaving the site.
