This proposal is for an amendment to the Environmental Compliance Approval (air & noise) No. A-500-2092534900 with Limited Operational Flexibility for Maple Leaf Foods Inc., a processed meat product manufacturing facility located in the City of Hamilton, Ontario.
The emission sources from the manufacturing and associated processes that discharge to the air include:
- ovens
- dust collectors
- boilers
- ancillary combustion equipment
The amendment includes the addition of three natural-gas fired boilers and three natural-gas fired water heaters. Emissions to the air from this facility include:
- acetic acid
- ethanol
- hydrogen peroxide
- nitrogen oxides
- particulate matter
- peracetic acid
The Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise), when issued, permits modifications to the facility subject to limits on operational flexibility that include a production limit for the facility to be specified on the Environmental Compliance Approval with Limited Operational Flexibility (air & noise). The Limited Operational Flexibility conditions have an expiry date. The company will be required to make an application for amendment at that time to renew these conditions.
