On October 13, 2020 the ministry issued an exploration permit located approximately PR-19-000291 to Rainy Mountain Royalty Corp. for early exploration located approximately 35 kilometers southwest of Kashabowie, Ontario, in the Powell Lake Area, District of Thunder Bay, North West Region.

The exploration permit was issued once all Indigenous communities and the public had the opportunity to provide comment or raise their concerns. The issued exploration permit is valid for a period of 3 years from the date of issue.

This permit will allow White Metal Resources Corp./Benton Resources Inc., to undertake these early exploration activities:

Plan Activities:

geophysical survey requiring generator type

  • line cutting (less than 1.5 metre width)

Permit Activities

  • mechanized drilling (assembled weight greater than 150 kilograms)
  • mechanized stripping (greater than 100 squared metres in 200 metre radius)
  • pitting and trenching of bedrock (greater than 3 cubic metres in 200 metre radius)

The exploration permit was issued once all Indigenous communities and the public had the opportunity to provide comment or raise their concerns. The issued exploration permit is valid for a period of three years from the date of issue.

Rainy Mountain Royalty Corp. has submitted an application on the claims listed for an exploration permit as required under the Mining Act for the following early exploration activities:

  • Mechanized Drilling (greater than 150 kilograms)
  • Mechanized Stripping (greater than 100 square metres in a 200 metres radius)
  • Pitting and Trenching of Bedrock (greater than 3 cubic metres in a 200 metre radius)
  • Line cutting (greater than 1.5 metres in width)
  • Plan activities included in this permit application

This notice is provided to receive comments that can be considered in the decision-making process prior to the issuance of an exploration permit.

An Exploration Permit does not relieve the proponent from compliance with any other requirements that are set out under the Mining Act or any other Act. All activities included in the Exploration Permit proposal must be carried out in compliance with Ontario Regulation 308/12 and the Provincial Standards for Early Exploration. The Exploration Permit duration will be up to 3 years.
