I believe it’s critically important that we protect the biodiversity of our region which includes protections for species at risk and endangered species.

I live near downtown Guelph and my place has so many beautiful sounds from the various birds, the bees, even seeing the little chipmunks and squirrels make me smile. They all get a long so well and even with me sitting on my deck in the morning.

Two area that give me rise for concern are below. The ability to de-classify an endangered species and stricter policies around adding species to the endangered list. Why? As human beings we have the responsibility to protect the species who habitats we have destroyed or plan to in the future.

Absolutely do no support this act which includes a pay-to-slay fee. remove schedule 5 from bill 108. you need to do more about protecting our wildlife and lands without worrying about developers. utterly disgusted with the proposal.
It is irresponsible to hand power to ministers over the endangered species act. Removing automatic protections and keeping your scientists "at an arms length" is a backwards policy that further threatens our endangered species. I am shocked and disappointed by the proposed changes.
Please accept the attached supporting documents as the comments from the St. Clair Region Conservation Authority as approved by the SCRCA Executive Committee on May 16, 2019.

I am encouraged that the intent seems still to ensure the ESA includes "a provincial species at risk list that is automatically updated based on classifications by an independent scientific committee". I am concerned that some the proposed changes do exactly the opposite. They will:

I have long been a small c Conservative voter but if the proposed changes to Ontario's Endangered Species Act are made then in good conscience I will no longer be able to support Conservative governments provincially or federally.
Summary:
I disagree with the proposed changes to the Ontario Endangered Species Act that the Government of Ontario wants to push forward.
