The mis-use of MZOs is something that must stop. The original intention of giving the minister a way to bring about a planning challenge for the public long term good is too often being abused by this government.

These are troubling changes to the Planning Act, through the introduction of Bill 197 (COVID-19 Economic Recovery Act). The Minister of Municipal Affairs and Housing is enabled to direct with impunity how land in Ontario will be developed, as dictated by a Minister’s Zoning Order (MZO).

the Government is abusing the MZO's which should only be used in case of emergency. This is not a dictatorship and the abuse of power that is against the will of the community is leading towards an anger that will be unleashed and create lack of trust of elected representatives.
