I believe that ANY moose tag given should forfeit the hunter of all the points whether they get it in first, second or unclaimed tags. Why should anyone be allowed to harvest this great resource without losing accumulated points period. Perhaps do the draws early enough to allow participants to do a little planning in advance. The first draw could be January 30, second a month later and so on. EVERYONE regardless of what draw should know by the end of March to allow planning in advance. Include calves in this process, as my opinion, and I have been hunting several decades, is that if we reduce calf harvest it results in more adults. I realize bears and wolves result in high calf mortality but why include hunters to that mix? If someone is willing to give up their points for a calf then fine BUT I think most would not and therefore more adults down the road. Regardless I read a lot of unsatisfied responses regarding the current process but can’t think of a process that is more fair as opposed to the previous random draw. You will always find those unsatisfied but that is the nature of the beast. Can’t satisfy everyone all the time. Keep doing the good work. Communication is important to mitigate the unwarranted complaints about the current system. Unfortunately there is always a few that look for ways to cheat the system so by giving up points regardless what draw you get your tag is fair to all. If I get a tag in the second allocation or buy an unused tag, I should still have to forfeit my points. Just need to do this in a timely manner to plan vacation time, accommodation etc
