Good Afternoon I would like to thank you for letting me share my thoughts. My last year moose hunting was October 2011. I stopped applying for a tag because all my group wasn’t getting an adult moose tag. The new system came into effect and I’m know wanting to get back into moose hunting. Our problem is I’ve accumulated 12 points so have the other 2 members we are all retired and our camp is in WMU#47. To apply for a bull tag the points required is 21 points a cow tag is 18 to 19 points a calf could be 8-10 points. So if I want to only calf hunt I will loose all of my points that’s not right. That’s like going to a store and buying a $ 3.00 chocolate bar and paying with a $ 10.00 bill and not getting your change back. This would be a great change. I also think the playing field of WMU’S is so skewed towards the northern units the point system where you can receive a bull tag 7-8 points. What I’m seeing is the point system right now is making the southern hunters go north where they have no clue what to expect they just know they can get an adult tag. Please Please look at levelling the playing field to make it fare. There should be a system to pass on your points if you do not want to hunt moose anymore. If you apply for the first or primary draw and get drawn you should either keep the tag or turn in back in with a severe penalty more than loosing 1 point. These hunter’s are taking away other hunters chances. I also think the hunters that are applying for the second draw must have a minimum number of points to enter like 5-7 points. I’m hearing hunter’s getting tags with zero points that’s not right. Let’s look at all the data and make moose hunting fare for the entire province not just the north. Our camp is 2 1/2 hours from my house I should not be forced into driving 16 to 20 hours to go moose hunting. A little off topic WMU #47 should be divided into subunits A B C. I also think the mandatory deer hunting report should include did you see any moose. Last fall we saw 7 different moose while deer hunting. Thank You.
